Bengaluru Stampede: BCCI to Issue Guidelines for IPL Victory Celebrations

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is taking proactive steps to establish guidelines for post-IPL victory celebrations. This decision follows the tragic events that unfolded during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrations in Bengaluru, where a stampede resulted in the loss of 11 lives and injuries to numerous fans.

The BCCI's Apex Council is scheduled to convene online this Saturday, June 14th, to finalize the domestic season calendar and the itinerary for the upcoming home white-ball series against New Zealand.

Sources indicate that the BCCI is actively exploring methods to regulate trophy celebrations effectively, while ensuring the festive spirit of the occasion remains intact. As previously reported by Cricbuzz, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia mentioned that the board is considering the formal introduction of guidelines in this regard.

Furthermore, the BCCI is set to confirm the dates and venues for the home series against New Zealand, featuring three ODIs and five T20 Internationals. This series carries significant weight as a crucial preparatory stage leading up to the T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February-March 2026.

Similar to the previous year, the domestic season will commence in September with the Duleep Trophy, pending approval from the apex council for the domestic schedule. The Duleep Trophy will maintain its inter-zonal format.
